Grandma Hattie's Knick Knack Shelf Blocks
Block 13 in the series: A Picture Frame
(free paper foundation piecing patterns
are included for these quilt blocks)
New to Paper
Knick Knack block 13: This little picture frame is empty - ready for you to insert a fussy-cut focus fabric image, a transfer print of a loved one or pet, perhaps an embroidery or cross stitch design?
This block is paper pieced in one unit - no sub-units to assemble this time. The block should have a 1/4" seam allowance left around it and be sized to match the other blocks in the series. (most are using an 8 inch finished block size, thus 8.5 inches with seam allowances).
The blank picture frame looks like this in line form:
Here's a sample of a block in color with nothing in the frame:
But the fun is to insert a transfer photo or a photo printed with direct methods (See articles here on Transfer Printing and Direct Printing if you are unfamiliar with these techniques) and you can have a block that looks more like this one below to put on your Knick Knack Shelves:
for Grandma Victoria's Shelf!

These blocks are all designed and images prepared by Susan Druding using Electric Quilt software.
