These two are widely different looks using rail fence blocks.
The top quilt is a continuation of the stripe series. Here the stripe is the outer pair of bands and alternate solids fill the middle band. This would make a cheerful baby quilt.

The bottom top is barely recognizable as a rail fence quilt. By using a bold, large polka dot with a black background and surrounding it with plain black for the outer pair of bands a very different look is achieved.
