"Pinwheel" Block
Sample Quilt Top Layouts
November - BOM #7
This "Pinwheel" block is listed in Barbara Brackman's Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns as block #1121.

#6 Reversed direction and color of the pinwheels in this
smaller quilt gives more surface action than if the pinwheels
were all facing the same way.

#7 These striped pinwheels have added thin sashing to outline
each block.

#8 A single square of the pinwheel block is emphasized
with a bright color at each point to give a different look.
Construction methods show how to make this variation "B".

#9 Similar layout to quilt #8 above, but with pinwheels
in solid bright colors on a patterned background.
#10 Another bold look, but with more of the
squares in a different fabric to seem to float
on the surface. This one would be
best assembled in small, square units.
